Meta has announced that it will lift restrictions on former President Donald Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts. The decision comes ahead of the Republican National Convention and aims to ensure equal treatment between Trump and Democrat President Joe Biden. The suspension penalties placed on Trump’s accounts will no longer apply, allowing him to express his political views freely. In early 2023, both accounts were reinstated after a two-year ban following the January 6, 2021, insurrection. Trump had launched his own social media platform, Truth Social, in 2022.
